Komend weekend zal de paddock van het Losail International Circuit een stuk rustiger zijn dan in de voorgaande jaren. De Moto3 en Moto2 teams hebben namelijk te horen gekregen dat hun gasten, sponsors en zakenrelaties tijdens de Grand Prix of Qatar niet welkom zijn in de paddock.
Het MotoGP wereldkampioenschap staat op het punt van beginnen, maar de Grand Prix of Qatar zal komend weekend een merkwaardig raceweekend worden. Afgelopen zondag werd de MotoGP klasse al uit het programma gehaald als gevolg van de strengere regels voor passagiers uit Italië, veroorzaakt door het coronavirus, waardoor alleen de Moto2- en Moto3-klasse hun opwachting zal maken.
Nu wordt de Grand Prix of Qatar normaalgesproken al niet drukbezocht maar woensdagmiddag werd ook nog een bekend dat de autoriteiten in Qatar komend weekend geen gasten toestaat in de paddock van het Losail International Circuit.
Alleen mensen die er werken, zoals coureurs, teamleden of journalisten hebben uitsluitend nog toegang. De toeschouwers worden dus bewust gescheiden en hebben komend weekend uitsluitend toegang tot de buitenring en hoofdtribune.
De sluiting van de paddock zou zomaar eens een eerste voorproefje kunnen zijn van wat ons de komende Grand Prix weekend nog meer te wachten staat. Krijgen we dit seizoen Grand Prix weekenden zonder publiek? Het zou zo maar eens kunnen, wij kijken nergens meer op na de berichtgeving de laatste dagen omtrent het coronavirus.
Onderstaand het officiële document welke de Moto3 en Moto2 teams woensdagmiddag ontvingen aangaande het bezoek van hun gasten voor komend weekend.
We have received the following information from the Qatar organisers, which significantly affects team guests.
The Ministry of Public Health of Qatar have agreed to let the event go ahead but we have had to make a few changes in order to comply with some of their suggestions/recommendations.
Their idea is to limit the interaction between local residents of Qatar and the teams/staff that are coming in from abroad.
HOLDERS OF PREMIUM PASSES
The most important issue is that Paddock Guest Passes will not be given access to the paddock. They will only be given access to the public area. However, it seems they will have the option to upgrade to Losail Club at a cost of 100 QAR per day.
We have yet to be given information on how this can be arranged so will send this informations as soon as we have it.
There are other changes which, probably, don’t affect our members:
OTHER MATTERS NOT CONCERNING TEAM GUESTS
VIP VILLAGE
– VIP Village guests will park in a VIP parking in the Public Area. They will also have an exclusive entrance, separate to the general public.
– Guests will register at the VIP Village welcome tent at the exclusive entrance.
– Guests will walk over the pedestrian bridge and along the corridor to reach the designated lounges.
– No guests will be allowed access to the paddock ground floor.
VIP SHUTTLES
– The 10 shuttles will be stationed in the public area VIP Village parking and will collect and drop the guests there ( map attached ) The shuttles will more than likely only access the external service road.
PIT WALK & GRID ACCESS COMPETITION
– Pit walk will not happen as guests are not allowed to go down to the paddock ground floor.
– No grid access for the public/guests etc. This should be essential staff/Media only.
– There will only be 1 access point (Gray Tower) and it will be security controlled.
