Lucio Cecchinello, teambaas van LCR Honda, wil Randy de Puniet ook volgend jaar graag op de Honda van het eenmansteam zien. De Fransman liet dit jaar, tot zijn blessure in de GP van Duitsland, zien dat hij goede progressie in vergelijking met vorige jaren heeft gemaakt.
Bij aanvang van de Duitse Grand Prix stond de Puniet zevende in het klassement, maar door zijn gebroken been die hij tijdens de race opliep miste hij Laguna Seca en reed hij in Brno en Indianapolis in het achterveld rond. Ondanks twee nulscores en twee keer een handjevol punten zakte hij slechts één plekje in de stand. <br /><br />Zijn goede vorm viel ook op bij andere teams en de Puniet had een aanbod van Suzuki op zak om voor een goed salaris en de status als fabrieksrijder bij hen te komen racen in 2011. Toch is de klanten-Honda beter dan de fabrieks-Suzuki en lijkt het erop dat de Puniet blijft waar hij is. <br /><blockquote>ÒWe doen er alles aan om hem te houden, want dat zou het beste scenario zijn voor zowel hem als ons,Ó aldus teambaas Cecchinello.
